Mathematical Programming Approaches to Classification Problems

چکیده
Discriminant Analysis DA is widely applied in many fields. Some recent researches raise the fact that standard DA assumptions, such as a normal distribution of data and equality of the variancecovariance matrices, are not always satisfied. A Mathematical Programming approach MP has been frequently used in DA and can be considered a valuable alternative to the classical models of DA. The MP approach provides more flexibility for the process of analysis. The aim of this paper is to address a comparative study in which we analyze the performance of three statistical and some MP methods using linear and nonlinear discriminant functions in two-group classification problems. New classification procedures will be adapted to context of nonlinear discriminant functions. Different applications are used to compare these methods including the Support Vector MachinesSVMsbased approach. The findings of this study will be useful in assisting decisionmakers to choose the most appropriate model for their decision-making situation.

Integrating Goal Programming, Taylor Series, Kuhn-Tucker Conditions, and Penalty Function Approaches to Solve Linear Fractional Bi-level Programming Problems
In this paper, we integrate goal programming (GP), Taylor Series, Kuhn-Tucker conditions and Penalty Function approaches to solve linear fractional bi-level programming (LFBLP)problems. As we know, the Taylor Series is having the property of transforming fractional functions to a polynomial. In the present article by Taylor Series we obtain polynomial objective functions which are equivalent...

In this paper we investigate the issues of data classification (as one of the branches of data mining science) in form of multi-objective mathematical programming model. The model that we present and investigate is a MODM problem. First time, based on support vector machine (SVM) idea (To maximize the margin of two groups), a multi-criteria mathematical programming model was proposed for data m...
متن کاملALGORITHMS FOR BIOBJECTIVE SHORTEST PATH PROBLEMS IN FUZZY NETWORKS
We consider biobjective shortest path problems in networks with fuzzy arc lengths. Considering the available studies for single objective shortest path problems in fuzzy networks, using a distance function for comparison of fuzzy numbers, we propose three approaches for solving the biobjective prob- lems. The rst and second approaches are extensions of the labeling method to solve the sing...
